In negative, the black parts of the picture appear white and the white parts appear black. By some more chemical reactions, a print is made from negative on the positive roll. All these actions are done automatically. These actions take about 10 seconds to create black and white images.When the picture is taken, the substances on the film are washed away by the chemicals.

By their action the picture becomes permanent. The chemicals keep on doing their action and they make a print on the paper with positive print. Thus the true picture of the Thing is obtained.
